MINDFUL MOVEMENT WITH NAYA
An Interview with Physical Therapist, Josh Madonick
Josh Madonick is a Doctor of Physical Therapy and founder of BaseCamp PT in Petaluma, CA, where he helps athletes “find their peak.” He is a brilliant mind in the study of human movement, an avid trail runner and an overall fascinating person. He’s on a mission to grow into the most bad-ass 100-year old possible. In this interview, we chat about physical therapy, strength and conditioning, Pilates and athletics – the things that help us stay healthy, active and doing our sport(s.) But the best parts are Josh’s more nuanced answers to the more difficult questions about health. He shares about everything from how breathing fully to moving through your feet to doing more of what you love just might be the best path to a long and healthy life. Pilates really helps build core strength that I don’t get from my sports. It’s also helped me build muscles that I didn’t know I had or that I was supposed to have! The balance and variety with Pilates is now an important part of my exercise routine.
Since practicing with Naya, I’ve noticed that my hips move much more easily and my body moves more fluidly. My body feels more aligned and I just feel better! I love that the cueing is so precise that I can just close my eyes and follow along. My only regret is that I didn’t start sooner!
Highly recommended! Naya is masterful at sequencing her classes, gives clear instruction, and always has a modification ready if needed. Naya’s impressive knowledge of anatomy allows her to personalize the workout so that all participants can get the most out of her class.
